Elliot's Prize Pale Ale
In 1875, S.G. Elliott brewed a prize-winning pale ale on the Campaspe.
We've brought it back, our way — a smashable sandbar session pale with enough flavour to keep things interesting. Trophies optional.

Decoy beers are brewed by people who know the river and it’s rich history.

Each beer stands on its own, its own story, its own character.
All made on the Murray, no fuss, no frills.

Two foot of water is all a paddle steamer needs to work the Murray.Turns out it's also all you need to barefoot ski it.
A clean, easy lager made for long afternoons on the river, however you're enjoying them.

Echuca's old Black Horse XXX Stout was a local favourite. Ours brings the same idea up to date with a hit of ESSENtial Espresso — open fires, redgum coals, and a bit of late-night swagger.
Best enjoyed slowly.

The paddle steamer PS Decoy was built in 1877, the only ocean-going paddle steamer in the southern hemisphere, hauling wool barges up and down the Murray when wool was the colony’s lifeblood. PS Decoy carried a record 2,493* bales of wool, which at one point in history was like carrying pure gold.
These days, we value a different kind of gold. It comes chilled, preferably on tap and enjoyed on one of Echuca’s gloriously sunny days to the sound of paddle steamers on our doorstep.
Our brewery is named after her because she earned it: honest work, made to last, never far from the river. That’s the kind of beer we wanted to make.

Our brew master, Tim Ford has been making beer since he was three years old helping Grandaddy Goddard brew in his backyard using an old pot as a kettle and a pair of Grandma Goddard’s old tights to hold the hops. It’s in his blood (literally and figuratively). From the windy hillsides of Cardiff in Wales to the sunshine and river life of Echuca, Tim thinks only about the product he’s making, the quality of the ingredients and attention to detail.
Tim used his many engineering and brew master qualifications and toe-curling investments in brewery equipment to open Decoy Brewing after meeting his wife Dana and moving to Echuca.
His mate and regular guest, Dean Oberin, did more than just cheer Tim along. He offered Tim a partnership at Three Stripes Beverage Co. and the rest is history.
He meticulously ensures our recipes are perfected for your drinking pleasure fit for life on the river. We source our ingredients locally, fresh from the region, and we put a whole lot of effort into delivering an authentic Echuca drinking experience. Local beer for Echuca and the river life.

Does Tim still brew his grandfather’s (in)famous recipe?
Well, he did try, and he says it was pretty horrible. Grandma Goddard’s old tights notwithstanding, there were a few rather original ingredients. When you catch up with Tim at Three Stripes, ask him about the tea bags!
